MASCARILLAS VIROBLOCK

DOBLE TEJIDO IMPERMEABLE Y ANTIADHERENTE

DOBLE TEJIDO IMPERMEABLE Y ANTIADHERENTE

SKINNY

New life for denim: POST-CONSUMER recycled jeans

Denim is a strong, sturdy fabric that’s built to stand the test of wear and tear. It also provides a major benefit that can help close the fashion loop: it’s recyclable. To help keep clothing in our daily use and out of landfills, we’re launching our new article: SKINNY.

SKINNY is a new twill made with post – consumer recycled jeans, that is discarded textiles products (in this case jeans) that can no longer be used for its intended purpose, and we re-use this fiber mixed with other organic fibers to obtain a new article.

For every meter of SKINNY we recycle one pair of jeans. The composition of this new article is: 98% cotton and 2% of other fibers, and has a weight of 221 gr/m2.

The new sustainable fabric is 72% GRS (Global Recycled Standard) and is ideal for decoration products as cushions, plaids, tablecloths and curtains.

Right now, we have available JEFFERSON collection printed on SKINNY, and soon we will launch other pattern printed on this beautiful fabric.

How SKINNY is made:

The environmental cost of making a pair of jeans:

Everybody loves denim, so much that the average consumer buys four pair of jeans a year. Nowadays we need to me more conscious about the brew of toxic chemicals and hundreds of liters of water it takes to dye and finish one pair of jeans. The result of this process is a huge environmental damage to rivers, air pollution, ecosystems and communities in China, Bangladesh and India.

The impact of making a pair of jeans is approximately of 8.000 liters of water, 13 kg of CO2 emissions to the atmosphere and the use of 10 kg of chemicals in the process. What is even more shocking is the six heavy metals (cadmium, chromium, mercury, lead, copper and manganese) that has been found in Asia waters (far away from their original source) and can be really dangerous for our health.

The fast fashion industry has a high environmental and human cost and we need to bet for other ways to consume more sustainable products.

POLO

NEW 100% RECYCLED POLY-COTTON FABRIC

We are excited to announce our new poly-cotton recycled fabric: POLO. Made of plastic bottles (13%) and pre consumer recycled cotton (87%).

As everybody knows, sustainability continues to be an important issue to keep in mind. For this reason, we have launched a 100% recycled fabric certified by the Global Recycled Standard (GRS).

This new article is a basic best- seller, with a linen – soft look and a nice drape. Ideal for tablecloths, cushions and curtains:

You can find our POLO in 26 trendy colors and also you can print patterns on it. Soon we will introduce you a new Sea collection printed on POLO.

The benefits for using recycle fibers are multiple, let’s see why it is so important to use recycled cotton and recycled polyester:

Benefits during cotton cultivation and production in conventional cotton vs. recycled cotton:

  • There is a 55% reduction in water consumption compared to conventional cotton during the cotton cultivation and production
  • 35% reduction in greenhouse gas and co2 emissions
  • 62% less energy consumption than conventional cotton
  • Conventional cotton uses about 16% of the world’s insecticides and 7% of pesticides

Pros for using recycled polyester (from plastic bottles):

  • The energy needed to make the rPET is less than what is needed to make the virgin polyester
  • Recycling PET to create the fabrics prevents it from going to landfills or oceans
  • Using more recycled polyester reduces our dependence on virgin petroleum as a raw material
  • Fabrics created from recycled polyester can be recycled again and again with no degradation of quality, allowing us to minimize wastage

From HISPANO TEX, we encourage to use more sustainable fibers and promote reducing the footprint in our Planet.

RECYCLED COTTON

RECYCLED COTTON

THE TIME IS NOW

And Here’s Why

Sustainability continues to be at the forefront of product decisions, brand initiatives and strategic planning in the textile industry. The use of recycled materials, including recycled cotton, is a growing topic of interest. Let’s see why it’s so important:

Growing cotton is an extremely resource-intense crop in terms of water, pesticides and insecticides, the current cotton production methods are environmentally unsustainable and has already caused severe droughts in some areas and polluted rivers and groundwater.

This means that using recycled cotton can lead to significant savings of natural resources, less energy consumption and CO2 emissions and reduce pollution from agriculture.

WHAT IS RECYCLED COTTON?

Recycled cotton can be generally defined as converting cotton fabric into cotton fiber that can be reused in textile products. Recycled cotton is also commonly referred to as regenerated cotton, reclaimed cotton or shoddy.

Textile recycling is generated from two primary sources:

  • PRE – CONSUMER: Diverted from the waste stream during the manufacturing process. For example, a factory that cuts patterns for clothing out of big sheets of fabric and has all the in-between pieces to discard. The scraps of such cut and sew facilities are post-industrial cotton “waste” that have the capacity to be recycled.
  • POST – CONSUMER: comes from discarded textile products. Includes garments, upholstery, towels, household items to be repurposed.

Here are the main figures & benefits from using recycled cotton:

Also, the process of recycling can divert many products from landfills. According to the Council for Textile Recycling, annual textile waste is estimated to more than 25 billions pounds in just USA. The agency also reports more than 21 billion pounds of post-consumer textile waste ends up in landfills every year with only 15 percent of all post-consumer textiles enter the recycling stream.

HOW IS RECYCLED COTTON MADE?

During the recycling process, the cotton waste is first sorted by type and color and then processed through stripping machines that break the yarns and fabric into smaller pieces before pulling them apart into fiber. The mix is carded several times in order to clean and mix the fibers before they are spun into new yarns:

POLO – OUR NEW RECYCLED COTTON BEST SELLER

HISPANO TEX has launched a new recycled fabric made of pre-consumer cotton and recycled polyester from plastic bottles.

Its composition is 87% cotton & 13% PES (100% GRS) and weight: 210 gr/m2. This fabric is certified by GRS (Global Recycled Standard): an international, voluntary, full product standard that sets requirements for third-party certification of Recycled Content, chain of custody, social and environmental practices, and chemical restrictions.

POLO is available in 26 different colors and ready to be shipped. You can download more information about POLO here:

RECYCLED CURTAINS

BECAUSE THERE IS NO PLANET B, WE LAUNCH RECYCLED CURTAINS

NEW RECYCLED CURTAINS BY HISPANO TEX

We have created 4 new curtains made with recycled yarns, all of them certified by Global Recycled Standard (GRS).

For AW19/20 we launch these new articles: ETRUSCA, LAURETANA, DOLOMITI and PATMOS, already available in stock.

  • ETRUSCA and LAURETANA

Etrusca & LAuretana are 100% recycled, made of post-consum plastic bottles and Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certifies them both the fabric material and the dyed process.

Both are available in 17 soft & pastel colors, very similar between them so they are easy to combine.

We have design a basic sheer for every home but with recycled fabrics, making sure that we reduce the environmental footprint:

Sweet & soft colors for Etrusca and Lauretana. The difference between them is we can see a thin slub in Etrusca’s warp.

For every meter of Etrusca, we recycle 18 plastic bottles of 1,5 liters. This item has a 94% of GRS (Global recycled Standard) and its composition is 100% PES and 117gr/m2:

We use 20 plastic bottles for every meter we produce of Lauretana. This curtain has 100% of GRS and its composition is 100% PES and 126 gr/m2.

  • DOLOMITI, a polycotton blend sheers

New recycled sheer with dyed yarn in the weft, making a thin stripe effect in the darker colors. It has a low shrinkage and the color fastness is ideal thanks to the recycled polyester.

You can find it in 21 trendy colors:

Dolomiti’s composition is 77% PES and 23% cotton with 84% of GRS. For every meter of Dolomiti we use 13 plastic bottles and the textile equivalent of 2 t-shirts, this means that the recycled cotton that we use is pre-consumer material which is the diverted from the waste stream during the manufacturing process.

  • PATMOS, cotton aspect with a fantasy drawing

Patmos is made of half polyester and half cotton (52%PES – 48%CO (60%GRS)), bringing out the best of both fibers.  Polyester is a synthetic fiber that is extremely durable; resistant to mildew; excellent at retaining their color and they hold their shape well which means it does not wrinkle easily. Cotton is a go-to material for all-round benefits, it offer a fresh, clean feel that suits traditional or modern decorating styles.

This new recycled fabric is reversible; you can see a different spike drawing in both sides. The drawing is woven so it gives a sophisticate touch to the curtain.

We offer this curtain in two color ranges: pastel and vibrant colors. In the soft range the slubs are more subtle while in the vibrant and darker colors the spike drawing pops out more.

For every meter of Patmos, we use the textile equivalent of 5 t-shirts. In addition, the yarn used is km 0, all local production to reduce the negative environmental impact in our planet.

Curtain recycled collection is available in stock; write us to receive a free-hanger.
